Signal path and Order of rack mount gear
I am wondering about the order in which I should set up my devices. I am recording guitar direct (or bass) and wish to run it through a Lexicon MX200 effects processor, a preamp, a compressor, and then obviously the last connection will be my Firebox DI box.
In what order should I run the compressor, Lexicon (for a little reverb), and preamp?

Big Signal Hit from AKG 414 on Avalon 2022 from Phantom 48
Hello people, I am wondering from sometime now why when I turn on or off the phantom power on my Avalon 2022 for my AKG 414 BXL II it gives 2 or 3 signal hits for over +3 dbs, an then settles. They work great together, but always behaves the same manner after turning on/off its phantom +48 power. Is this normal, sometimes in the powering of the +48 signal says hello this way?.
Patchbay pads signal by -18db
Hi,
I was testing this old Tascam PB-32 patchbay by running a 1'4" cable from one of the back jacks into the line in on my console, then plugging a bass into the matching jack on the front. It worked, but it attenuated the signal by -18db when compared to the bass plugged directly into the line in on the console. Does anyone know if this is normal for Tascam patchbays?

Signal Chain upgrade advise please
Hi,
I am currently using PreSonus firestudio as my interface and was plesently surprised with the quality of the preamps/ converters within.
I also use Joemeek Twin Q Studio Channel as my main preamp for vocals etc.
I am looking to improve my signal path to Cubase as I am expanding my studio in an effort to go professional but on a budget.

Frequency Responses in the signal chain
So to me this has a somewhat obvious answer, but I've never actually heard it discussed so I'm not certain, and I'm not sure many people have thought about it too much.

How to split guitar signal?
In the studio, what is the proper way to split a guitar signal so that I can record multiple guitar rigs at once from one performance? I'd like to be able to set up one rig in an isolation booth, and another different rig in another booth, and then still have the original signal to go straight into the board for plugin processing.

Where in signal chain needs improving/renovating/unf*@%ing
I record electric guitar plus amp with a 57, an electric bass through a di, and vocals with a 58. All recordings done in a living room that sounds good, a very woody, rich sound that resonates well with the singing and guitar.
Let's say I want to spend another 300 to 500.

The following are things I think I know mixed with a question or two so please chip in where needed. Please!
Okay. Here goes:

Stereo or Mono signal for Vocals?
I have been debating about this with myself for a bit and decided to ask the crew here what your opinions are.
This is the path I use for recording VOCALS.
