Is there a significant difference - tone wise, performance wise, whatever - between plastic speaker cabinets like the SRM450's and wood bodied speaker cabinets, like say the comparable Bag End passive 12" speakers?

Is this even a fair question?

Hey guys i ve been mastering my tracks for quite a while but there is ths one thing that just came into my notice that when i play my sounds on my studio monitors, car system home hi-fi system...along in comparsion with commercially mastered CDs in the market they sound very good.. and does sound commercial like evry other CD in the market...but the punch is this.

I just bought a toshiba laptop and I'm using it for recording. My question is that I currently have my monitors about 6-8 inches away from my laptop. The reason for this is simply space on my desk. I know that around a pc monitor its bad, and more than likely the hardware in my comp. But will it react differnt to lCD screens. Should I not continue with what I'm doing?

Im looking into getting these speakers but Im a little confused, on the spec sheet it says 250 watts continuous handling and 1'000 watts peak. So does that mean I can put up to a 1'000 watt amp before they explode or do I have to keep my amp around 250 watts ?

It is okay to use a mogami patch cable to connect these? I have a 3 foot speaker cable, but would it be better to use mogami? It would only be a distance of 3 feet.
