Description

The term "tracking" is a process when recording various instruments, voices etc used to create a song or production within its track. If a song is recorded one track at a time, we refer this to "tracking". Every time you record a new track, you hear all the other ones you've recorded as well. This tag discusses all sorts of topics on tracking music.

Serious Cubase Tracking Errors - 8-track live recording

Hi,

I am recording 8 tracks live into Cubase SL2.0. Latest version, Mac Os 10.3.5, Edirol FA101 soundcard.

The problem is, that after a minute or so one of the tracks always randomly slips - i.e., misses a millisecond or two and then picks up recording with a lag behind the rest.

tracking

Hi. i have a question that maybe someone could answer?when tracking typical backing tracks, bass, drums lead and rhythem guitars and keys which should be recorded in mono and which should be in stereo also normally would a vocal be done in mono and then a stereo reverb added at mixdown and typically where would you pan the tracks. thanks for any advice on this Jim.

which compressor is better for tracking or mixing?

Which compressor is better for tracking or mixing between the teletronix la2a, avalon(any compressor), urei 1176, dbx Quantum II, fairchild 670-660, manley(any), drawmers? I do understand that each instrument or vocals may require a different compressor for better results...but which one is the most consistant between the ones I named :D ?
