yupp, you can pre-define tempo changes upfront.

really no joke logic is so powerfull, i use it since about 6 years and still discover new possibilities... it's a bit of a hard learning curve to get your head around it, that's true and it does put a lot of people off who want to achieve everything very quickly, but i personally think the learning curve pays eventually off!! it has nearly "endless" posibilities,
of course the express version is a stripped down version, so you have to check it out before you buy (apples website or digital village) or splash out about 650 quid for the pro version.

This is clearly one of many areas where the dedicated sequences do out perform ProTools

for the heavy synth and complex song writer logic is worth every effort to get to know

yes i think the same kev, when you need / want to do more then just simple recording and the usual production - plugs and mixing, then logic is by far the most advanced prog out there... and specially in the midi department, there is nothing that even touches it!!

You can do tempo and time signature changes in all these programs, including Cubasis.

Logic stopped supporting PC users at version 5.5.

I have Cubasis VST 4.0 (maybe it's 5.0?) at home, so I'll have to check it out to give an exact explenation, but basically there is a tempo editor, I don't believe it's like the newer versions where you can simply draw changes in, I think it's like an event editor, or a list. Can't remember exactly, like I said, I'll have to double check how to do it. I'll try to remember tonight, and get back with you. Unless I'm dreaming or something, I do remember it being supported.

Oh, if you have a manual handy please look at it, I've been trying like mad to find one on the net with no luck at all... oh but I did find out there are like over a dozen "versions" of Cubasis, like CubasisGo for ring tones... strange...

the event list is a very powerful tool
even so a specific tempo map page has been there a while

ha, mine is the cubasis VST US-428 (tascam) one. looks like the worst one there..........................

anyway- there is no function at all like a temp map or whaetever- just the ability to change the tempo/no. beats per bar- and then it totally messes up (puts out of time) the whole of the recording..........

i think its time for a software upgrade!

Did you look at the chrt I provided, it clearly states that there is a Tempo Editor for that version of Cubasis. Not saying you're wronge, as I've no idea if Stienberg made a typo, but paying hundreds of dollars just for this function (as well as learnign a whole new piece of software) seems a bit steep to me, so just trying to help... :)

yea, the chart is right- you can "edit" the tempo- as in "change" it halfway through the song- but that just messes the whole session up- trying to put all the previous stuff into that timing!

i have looked through every toolbar option many time over (not that there are that many!) and there is no sign of any kind of metrome "map" where i can set it up..............there is a difference to just changing the tempo (which this allows me to do) and writing out the whole song with all the timing/tempo changes (what i need!).

Well, I did manage to take a look on my copy of Cubasis.

First of all, in order to make it all work, you must have the "Master" button highlighted in the transport window. You don't set tempo/key changes via the transport window, you have to set them up in the Tempo List Editor. The editor looks like the Event List Editor btw, the program IS confusing as all hell though, but after some annoying trial-and-error I managed to figure it out. Sorry I can't sit next to you and walk you through it, but I really really do believe it's in there. heh, sorry to prolong the pain :)
