I recently purchased a Gigastudio 160 setup with variable components I'm trying to make work together now. For anyone interested in helping, and advice offered on setting all of this up and getting it to work together is extremly appreciated!
The hardware and software are all installed. What I need now is the machines to be able to work in conjunction.
Keep in mind, I am VERY computer literate, but a rookie with Digital Performer, Gigastudio, and somewhat of an intermediate Pro Tools user.
Let's dive in...
On the SONY VAIO PC:

On the Macintosh:

- Digi001 Installed
- Pro Tools LE 6.2.2
- Digital Performer 4.1.2
(Computer Details: G4 Dual 1.42GHZ, 2GB RAM, 4 HDs, OSX 10.3.2 Panther)
From the Hammfall Card (PC) I have 2 optical cables (running from the INs & OUTs) running into the optical INs & OUTs of the Digi001 card in the Mac.
Ok.
What now? Where do I go to start feeding the Gigastudio machine to Digital Performer on the Mac? What needs to be setup?
Any, and I mean, ANY help is greatly appreciated!

I'm not familiat with any of the apps you listed, but I can give you some general help. First, you are going to need to visualize your audio and MIDI signal flows. Here goes.
Your keyboard controller sends MIDI signals into PT or DP. They are recorded (or monitored) at that point. PT or DP sends those MIDI signals to your sound generator, which is Giga.
Giga creates sound from those MIDI signals and sends them back to PT or DP. PT or DP either records those signals or sends them to your speakers live.
Now this means you need at least a 2x2 port MIDI interface connected to your Mac, and at least a 1x1 port MIDI interface connected to your PC. Connect one set of MIDI I/Os on the Mac MIDI interface to your MIDI Controller keyboard. Hook the other set of I/Os into the PC MIDI Interface. Configure the software (the part I can't really help you with) to recognize and communicate with these MIDI interfaces.
Next, you'll need an audio feed from the PC back to the Mac. I don't know if PT and/or DP support Live input monitoring, but if so, you'll activate this feature and you should be able to hear Giga through your Digi001. Run the Optical Out from the HDSP card to the Optical In of your Digi001. That will transfer the audio. The Digi001 Out to HDSP In gives you the ability to sync Giga to the PT or DP clock signal.
If PT and DP don't have live input monitoring, you'll need to send the Giga audio signal directly to your Monitors for monitoring, and to record, you'll need to send the Giga audio into PT or DP.
That's the general signal flow, hope this helps.
