Ok, so I am new to the world of recording on such a program, but am wanting to learn... When I load it up it gives me an error message that reads

''The following driver(s) either do not support the current audio format, or are in use by another application''

My driver is ESS audiodrive..

Do I need a new card? A new Driver? If so, what?

Anybody with experience with this that might know the cure for ailments would be tremendously appreciated...

Thanks

I don't know much about your sound card. That sounds like an ASIO error? It sounds like your software is and/or the operating system is holding onto the soundcard driver, preventing its use. You may have some check box somewhere in the audio card stuff to allow its release?

In that respect, it would be much better to purchase yourself an inexpensive USB external sound interface. We are talking about an investment of no less than $100 US. And you will find that in purchasing one of these devices, depending upon manufacturer, it may include a wonderful piece of full-blown professional multitrack software. If that appeals to you? My advice would be, purchase the one that has the software you'd like to use. Don't worry about specifications and converters along with other technical non sequiturs. With inexpensive equipment they all use the same parts. All will provide better results than what you are obtaining now. All are good enough to make professional recordings with.

Try a new sound card and call me in the morning
