When I start Nuendo 2.2 or the new Samplitude 8.0 demo I get a very subtle high pitched whine or audio constant ring, maybe up at at about 2k or so, not sure. But I do not get it opening the SAW studio demo. I am trying to find out which program to get. I'm not sure if it is getting on the recording track, or it's just an output thing. Is SAW better than the other 2 programs. I'm using a cheap M-Audio Fast-track USB device, I thought at first it was that. But when I fired up the Saw demo, it was not there at all. Is this an asio driver thing, or driver period problem, is something running that I should shut down in windows...please, please any light? Also using Gigabyte AMD 64 nvidia geforce 3 chipset, 1024 megs dual channel DDR 3200, main windows drive is 80GIG 7200 8mb buffer, other 2 drives are 120 gig 8mb buffer SATA, w/ Raid 0. System is very fast. Wnat to get Samplitude Sequoia and an RME 800 fireface. will I have the same high pitched whine? God I hope not, Imean this thing is not real loud or anything but if you turn the fader up higher you hear it more! I can still record and all!

I don't have an answer, but I have been experiencing a similar problem that started a day or two ago. Just now, actually (thank you), I muted the all of the inputs on my interface through the volume panel and it reduced the white noise to nearly nothing. The HF hum was silenced by connecting something (TS-RCA adapters) into the open slots on the A/D converter. As for the sound being linked to software...make sure your sample rates are the same for the programs and the interface itself. Also...make SURE to keep your audio cables far as possible from your power cables....this is almost always the cause of audible hum. Hmm, I guess that's all I got for now.

Actually, just send me you computer...I'll take a look at it and let you know if it's worth sending back.

Never seen that problem on very similar systems as yours with Gigabyte AMD64 and Nuendo or Samplitude.

Good choice on SAM/Fireface.

The Samplitude sound engine seems to be better than the others.

No phase shift at mixdown which translates into more clarity and stereo image.

High Pitched Hum

Crap . I'm an idiot, I put a stereo mini jack headphone into the front of the M-Audio Fastrack, and wallah, no HF Hum, God I know the process of elimination in tracking hums, What a dumbass I am, we were needing a heaphone mix for up to 4 headphones and we just were causing the loop somewhere in that chain...Thx for the info and the support ,!
