Hello Everyone,

I might be inches now away from picking up a Trident-65.

Could anyone remind me of some things to look for or ask the owner that might have passed my thoughts?

Any pointers at all would be useful!

Thanks in advance!

Maybe pay a tech to go with you? If you have access to any type of test equipment you should run some tones thru it to see if the caps are in bad condition. Luckily when i bought my console, i had planned on paying for a recap and when they opened the thing up it turned out to have all new caps. So i was able to put that towards some more outboard.
But if it does need a recap and you cant do the work yourself or know someone who can, you'll be paying a lot for tech to do it. So save yourself a lot of money in the long run and pay someone to go with you.

I saw the board yesterday afternoon and man is it a little honey! I had the board checked by a good friend of mine. We did not open the console up, but we checked all tracks and fader/knob/buttons.

The board sounded so sweet that I was haveing an inward fit of excitment.

When we walked into the studio I got a very good vibe from the console and when I was told that a tech had done a full check of the Trident 65 just 2 months ago, along with the fact that 2 years ago the caps were changed, I felt that if there was any work to be done now or later on the board, that I would be able to handle it, no problem. I think I have definatly found the one! :) ;)

Cheers!

Thanks Littledog!

Teddancin, that is an interesting qestion and I am investigating the old original prices when the console was new. I am paying 6k for mine , 1k for the patchbay that goes with the board and $500 for that Mackie automated system that is now discontinued!

Does anyone out there have a clue as to how much the Trident-65 was going for when new? I believe they were being made around 1983, but if anyone knows what the production years are, that would be most helpful.

Now that I am going to be a proud Trident owner, I should like to know as much about all thier boards as I can!
