does the recording program make a difference on how the music sounds?

because i used two programs sound forge xp and then i used a regular windows sound recorder and i like how the cheaper sound recorder sounds better then the sound forge. .why does it sound different when its the same voice?which one will i sound like when i use a actual mic in the concert?

It could depend on a a bunch of different reasons. Is you bit depth and sample rate the same? Is the mic that you are using the same? What is the other program are you using, are you going through an interface or soundcard? I use to use soundforge a long time ago and I thought it was pretty good, it is not the best, but I dont think it sounds bad, so you are using windows wave recorder? Are you recording to WAV files in sound forge? Live sound will totally change you overall sound... quite a bit.

your really not making any sense.

your "cheap" sound recording software shouldnt "sound " better than expensive recording software, unless you are changing the drivers/soundcards etc.

and, yeah, if the takes you used to compare were at totally different times, then of course there is going to be a difference. When you A/B things, you do it together, at the same time, the same stuff, etc.

Oh, and, your other questions are to vaugue to answer.

Good Luck
