My first post at Recording.org! I decided to post because I want to know more and more about audio technology, studio recording and live performance from people like you.
What I need most help with today is this:
I got Edirol PCR-M1 MIDI keyboard controller (USB/MIDI I/O), Yamaha P105 88-key digital piano (Only 1/4 Out and USB, no MIDI), M-Audio M-Track 2x2 USB Audio Interface (USB/MIDI/XLR/1/4), MainStage 3, and a bunch of cables but I don't know the appropriate set up (wiring/cabling) if I wanted to use these equipments in a way I could get different sound effects out of what I play on Yamaha through MainStage and control these effects using knobs on Edirol.
If you know these equipments well and got a good suggestion for a good setup, please let me know!

Via USB :
- the m-track communicate audio and midi data.
- The manual should confirm this but the Yamaha's usb maybe only for midi data¸
- And the Edirol will transmit midi through the usb as well.

That will give 3 midi interface it your DAW
Now if you want to record the sounds of the yamaha (again refere to the manual) you will need to put 2 x 1/4'' cables from aux out of the keaboard to the input of the M-Tracks to record audio.
The workflow may be ; record midi tracks with many punch in/out and edition until the track is perfect. then play the midi to a Virtual instrument (Vsti) or to the midi interface of the Yamaha to make it play and record the audio..
This is guessing because you didn't explain what you want to do. BTW, if the Yamaha can send midi data, you may not need the Edirol controler...

Your question is too general... The first thing you should do is familiarize yourself with the gear you have by reading the documentation that came with it... too many people buy gear and software and never read the manuals for what they have.
The second thing you could do would be to go to youtube, and type the makes and models of your gear into their search engine... my bet is you would get quite a few videos to choose from.
After you do some research on your own, If you still have specific questions, you can post them here and perhaps someone could help you....
I'm saying that you are far more likely to get help from this forum if you have done your part first - and taken the time to learn about what you have.
