Hi,

Here's the scenario. I have a piece mixed and mastered in DP3. Sounds great.

Now I want to make an mp3. I take the L/R audio files into Peak and export as .aiff. I then take the .aiff and drop it into Drop MP3. Sounds terrible.

Assuming that it has been mixed and mastered to make it sound good as an mp3, is there some other way to ensure a good sounding mp3. I was using Cleaner instead of Drop MP3 but didn't get any better results. Is there a magic MP3 encoder I don't know about or is the problem with the mixing/mastering?

Thanks,
Sioux

UPDATE:
And I now have an answer to my own post. Someone on Tweakheadz answered it. The answer is in the mp3 conversion rate so I guess I wasn't that far off. Unfortunately it was one of those things I didn't know anything about but made a huge difference. Just thought I'd post the answer in case anyone else ever ran into this problem.

UPDATE:
And that answer was not it. I'm now back to re-recording the tracks to make sure the levels are correct.
