US224 vs. . Midiman Quattro for beginner
Hey all,
I'm new to the whole DAW game. I'm going to be using SonarXL and am looking for an audio/midi interface.
I'll be using a laptop, and thus need the USB connectivity.
Right now, it'll be vocals/MIDI keyboards/hand drums/guitar-- maybe 2 tracks at a time.

My ANUS and the midi port
My ANUS is the audio version P4B266, and I'm about to go midi. Has anyone sucessfully used the joy stick/midi port along with a seperate sound card? Does disabling the audio portion disable the midi port? Thanks. JT

soundcard to DAT via spdif?
I'm trying to record digitally to my DAT machine a Sony 670 from my mac computer using a Delta 1010 card via the S/PDIF coaxil connection. The only way i've got it to work so far is using 48Khz sample rate, but my material is all recorded at 44.1Khz.The DAT machine is able to record at 44.1Khz(according to the manual),but i can't get it to work at that sample rate.

Mic/pre---need flattery not accuracy!
I need to close mic to reduce room and hard drive noise. I have a sm57 going into my akai dps16 and that is not a good match for the built in preamps. only need male vocals as everything else goes direct. Singer(me) needs all the help he can get. Should I:
Get a meek vcq1 for the 57-- is this a good combo for vocals?

Jules... how's the summing coming?
Hey Jules, just wanted to know how your search for the perfect summing solution is coming... I'm still looking at the Dangerous 2-Bus. Have you used it in your studio yet?

Final Cut Pro
Anyone using DP to sweeten their Final Cut Pro audio tracks? Do the the two programs complement one another or would I be better off using Pro Tools LE? Love to hear from you as I'm an audio novice. Thanks.

Computer based Sample Conversion
Ok, seems simple enough. I have a ton of samples I need to convert. The MAIN thing I'm looking for for something that converts AIF (or SDII) files to a file the MPC3000 will read on a zip disk. I tried the "Export Selected As" in Pro Tools to no avail. Does anyone know of a be all, end all program for audio file conversion mac or p.c. (mac prefered)?

This unit was mentioned as a decent buy for 16 inputs, so I went to take a look at it to add it to my list of things to watch. I found...

Recorderman?
Hi,
I'm very interested in your modification for the dolby noise reduction Cat22 cards. Did you ever post pictures or a diagram so we can try this out?
Thanks,
Fen
