What puts the AT4033 over an AT3035?
I have been looking for a decent set of overheads. I almost narrowed my search down to getting some AT4033's off of eBay for just over $400. But I kept looking back at AT's site seeing the AT3035. They seem to look better (on paper at least) than the AT4033 and you can pick them up for about 100 clams less.

Best soundcard for winXP (EWX 24/96 - Audiophile 24/96)?
I currently have a soundblaster live in my windows XP system. However, i'm
looking to get into computer sampling/recording and want to get a GSIF
compatible card.
The two i'm looking at are the Terratec EWX 24/96 and Midiman Audiophile
2496 as both are around £160-180 and seem to have the hardware support i'm
looking for.
That Elusive WinXp Optimzation Document

02R 24 bit ADAT cards?
I am an 02R owner and am considering going to a 24 bit HD recorder using ADAT light pipe. However, the Yamaha ADAT card uses a proprietary Alesis optical chip that will only pass a 20 bit word length. Other than the expensive TC Electronic 02R Unit Y card (for which you're mostly paying for the plugin processors), are there any reliable 3rd party 24 bit ADAT cards out there?

mixing from Pro Tools
I have a mix coming up where I will be mixing tracks recorded directly to Pro Tools. I will be mixing on an API or vintage Neve and probably to 1/2". What suggestions can any of you experienced mixers give me to help shape and glue the tracks togather? Any ideas will be appreciated even if you think it might be obvious. Thanks.

ROMP Mastering Chains
Hey All,
I just finished working on the ROMP tune and I thought
I'd start a thread on the Gear/Procedures that
each engineer used to complete the project...
Unfortunately, since I don't use a DAW,
I couldn't really take advantage of the 24bit mixes
(too bad there wasn't a CD24 mix for the Masterlink users)...

888/24 AES/EBU out to DA-88, how?
I need to go AES/EBU out of my 888/24 and into my DA-88. What options do I have in terms of gear? I know that Tascam makes the IF-AE8 for this purpose, but it's $500.00, anyone know of an alternative to the Tascam IF-AE8?
Thanks.

Dolby "warble" tone? What is this?
Delivery specs for a project ask for Dolby "warble" tone. This is on a Digibeta. I'm at a total loss. Dolby has no info on "warble tone".
What is it, and what is it used for, and how can I generate it?
Thanks.

DA-88 format/timecode
I know this is basic stuff to most of you, but I need to format a tape with timecode on my DA-88 with the SY-88 installed. Do I first have to "format" the tape as stated in the DA-88 manual and then stripe the time code? Or will striping timecode on an unformatted tape, format the tape?
Thanks.
