Starting / Getting into Vinyl Mastering

I am considering making the leap into 'VINYL cutting & mastering'.

I have been searching for a cutting system & equipment & it's very difficult to find anything (in USA at least).

I'm really interested in making test plates / acetates / dub plates for clients of my recording studio as well as myself.

What are some good equipment recommendations?

mastering at home although you know nothing about it

These finalizers have great reviews its just so tempting not to get one and try the wizard modes out. so i have three questions

1 jump straight in and get the tc electronic 96k and learn from the wizard mode

2 look for something secondhand like the dbx quantum

3 dont bother its just another mythe so you spend even more on being curious

Big fat question...

Ok now here is the deal, i was reading the reviews of the songs from this group project and it seems that the ones that recieved the best reviews were the ones whiich lacked a 20-450 section. This made the song very brittle and clean. Is that what clients want in a song? This brittle and clean and powerles music? Just listen to those which recieved high reviews and you'll see what i mean.

Equing and linearity

Do you pro guys usually use a 31band graphic eq to "straighten out" the audio? when I use a spectrum analyzer set on RMS, I see that the line is pretty straight. so is this an "important" factor when mastering a track? I have tried to do it myself, and in some cases it can sound much more open, but at the same time take away some of the tracks "personality".
