Loudness level in mastering?

Forums

This is somewhat related to the previous thread on dynamic range, but with a twist.

I was just marvelling (not) over the amazing loudness difference between some older re-mastered analog Decca recordings (fairly hot), a Dorian release of early music (VERY hot-- turned it down at least 12dB for comfort), and some tasty things from EMI and Nimbus.

how many mixes actually you do not touch at all ?

Forums

hi there mastering gurus :D

here is a few questions for you all :

how many (percentage) mixes actually you do not touch at all ?

...and why ? I mean how do you explain that situation ?
is it somehow connected with genre of particular mix ?
is it good mixing room that was used ?
mixing engineer?

Hey guys..i m Shezan. i have few tracks finally mixed and they are sounding very good. the problem is that... my client is comparing the sound level or you can call it gain to indians and those form Hollywood or english side Uk bla bla bla. etc. the difference in the sound is around 14Db and believe me there is no one in my country to do a master like them.
