Hi all. I know there are a lot of mastering engineers on this board and I'm wondering on what you all think on the best format for mastering. I've heard it said that recording in 24/96 and sending in an AIFF file is useless in the end because of downsampling and dithering. Then - I've also heard that the absolute best for some are AIFF files at 24/48. At any rate, I'd love some opinions!

...or do you have small acoustic reflections from walls?
Do you find it important to kill very small echo/flutters? even if they are not triggered by the speakers from where they are placed.

I've been looking into how to make DVD-Audio but the only thing I've seen, so far is a program from Sonic Solutions at $6000
Has anyone here seen a program do do this, on a down to earth price?

Couple of questions?

1. How can i get the non-audio information on to a CD ...I.E., Titile, Artist, Year, Composer, etc.. all the stuff you see from the CDDB? Is there a mastering program that does that for you. I have seen on audio programs, save all non audio information, but that has nothing to do with that. And something about ISRC codes? Someone please explain that to me??

being a Manley user the whole thing about the three types of detectors is a bit confusing.

do any of you have hands-on experience with GML?

any real-life advice about how to get the most out of it?

thanks for all your help with the last little Mastering to Vinyl session . All the tips have been a big help . especially Tom's to check mixes with a low pass and high pass filter to see if the definition stays ..

I have been using the L2 without dither and placing POW-r after the L2. I honestly have not taken the time to run many tests, I was just responding to the hype.
