I know that this is the mastering forum and that sound restoration and audio forensics don't quite fit here, but for lack of another forum, I thought I'd try you all since you're the most detail-oriented group here. I am interested in both subjects but have found very little information about how to learn more about either one.

Hey all --

Im just finishing up mixing and readying an EP for one of the group's i produce.
This is the first times we've ever had anything mastered, so i have a couple of questions! :

1) What levels should the final bounced mix be at? Obviously not clipping. And does it matter if there was an L2 limiter placed over the Master, or would u rather not.

Heeelp! CD Extra

Hi
I have to make a master CD extra (audio + video) ; but to achieve this I can only use Samplitude or Nero.
My problem is that I have made the audio master with toc and CD text and evrything, but I can't find a way to burn this a CD extra directly from Samplitude.

So maybe I'm obliged tu use Nero ; But how can I keep all the CD informations I've created with Samp?

L1 Ultramax and dithering

The material I have recorded is at 24 bit 48000. I want to use the L1 as a final stage limiter. Should I downsample and do bit reduction only (no dither) through Cool edit and then run The L1 at 16 bit 44100, or allow Cool edit dither as well. The Waves manual is a little vague on this. Would it be better to simply use the L1 at 24 bit then downsample for CD's using Cool edit
