I'm about to record a girl who wants some sax on her record, was just wondering which out these mics (or possibly combination thereof) would be best:

Sennheiser 421
AT4040
I was thinking the 421 with the 4040 for ambience, but any input would be very useful.

But does anybody know how do they compare to M270?
I'm interested to know the same about M200 and M294/5

I dont know which mic to get for vocals. Both are large diaphram condensers and come with free shockmounts from sweetwater music. They also both get rave reviews. Does anyone have any personal experience with either the Studio Projects C1 or RODE NT1-A?[/code]

I was wondering what makes a mic hum when I approach the swtiches, and pick up low level background hum that no other mics do.

I've been able to rule out ground loops, and I am using very well shielded cable. The body is screwed together very tighly, so there's no problem there.

Oh yeah, the mic also needs to be grounded to stop the hum getting very bad.

I've my plan to buy a converter for better sound but people says, I've problem about my mic and pre-mic too. ( CAD E-200 / mindprint en-voice )
