If you were to buy the best most versatile mic and preamp, which one would you buy? Neumann ua87 mic with Avalon Pre? Price no bar.

I own an MBOX which runs through Pro Tools, and i'm going to buy a microphone strictly needed to record rap vocals...
what do u think i should be lookin into getting?

Here is one piece from the recording in finland with Markus Wargh.
But you must pay attention that it's a wooden church. So the
acoustics is pretty bad.

I thought I was more clued in to the mic industry, but I have to admit that I never knew there was a wide cardioid version until today.

Anyone here used it yet?

BTW I never realised just how small these mics are. They look really cool :lol:

I have to record percussions,mandolin,violin and bass far away from the studio in a house.
I was wondering if I can use the hypercardiod live vocal mics for mandolin and violin?
I have used the Neumannon a guitar cab,and brass with very good results.But what about the violin and mandolin and esprcially stand up bass?

I'm curious to know how the Microtech Gefell mics with the M7 capsule stack up against their revered counterparts from the past.

I've rarely come across a reference to the UM92.1. How does this stack up against the M49 and U47?

This might sound like a strange question, but I hear a lot about mic cabinets, or lockers, or closets...

How do all of you like to store your mics? Is "locker" just an over-all term used in an allegorical way? Or do you actually have a locker/cabinet/closet dedicated to locking up your mics?

Again, how do ya'll store and care for your mics?
