Mic's for guitar Cabs
SM57's / Sennheiser 421 are pretty common but what else have you had success with? Old fenders and Marshalls in particular but any amp in general.

Condensor or Dynamic?
I have a small studio in my house. It is in a fairly lively room. I want to buy a mic for vocals, and I'm very interested in the C1. I read somewhere that in an "untreated" room condensor mic's should be avoided and dynamic mic's are a better choice.
Anyone have and opintion or insight on this issue?

Mxl Mics; Are they any good?
been looking around for mics lately, I have made my mind up about the dynamic mics I need.
And landed on AKG D112 and some Shure sm57`s.
Now for the condensers.
Dont know how many I`m gonna get.
But the Mxl mics looks tempting and extreemly cheap, will someone wake me up and tell me the real deal about theese mics.
are any good.

Need help with this mic shootout!
Hi guys, I just recently done a great little mic shootout. It is between 4 condenser mics, priced between $250 - $800.
--- Shure KSM27
--- RODE NTK
--- Audio-Technica 4040
--- RODE K2
It is a 9 second clip of me singing a passage from one of mike pattons albums.

Anyone use a mic splitter?
Here's my problem...When I run vocals though my mic preamp and then take that mono signal to the board, I am not sure how most people go about connecting both left and right inputs to the stereo in and stereo out on the effects processor.
What mic Splitter would work to feed the inputs of my Eventide DSP7000. Or can this be done on a patchbay?

top vocal microphones in 2005
Hello!
i've been reading on user comments on the top microphones available today. i missing two particular contenders. has anyone had the chance to compare these with todays bests? (eg. ELA M 251, C12, U47, C800G etc):
-Brauner VM1 Klaus Heyne Edition (this one supposed to rock, and it has nothing to do with the original VM1)
-Brauner VMA

forum dedicated to mics
I want to start a petition to start a separate section in this forum dedicated to mics. For all those out there that don't even know the difference between a condenser and a dynamic microphone. Lots of beginners come to this forum,, and if they truly want to learn the ropes, they're going to need to learn about mics sooner or later.

dpa 4060 as distant mic?
I've been considering the dpa4060 as a very discreet all-purpose omni. Would it be suitable for more distant micing? I've heard some great recordings where it was used in a binaural system, but in each case the sound source was quite loud, so the SN ratio didn't really matter.
Thanks
John

help on upgrade to a great "2nd mic" in my project
hi,
to all RODE K2 users!
Hi all ive just completed my vocal booth and i was hoping to use my RODE k2 mic in it. Now how does everyone connect the mic if the power source is in the control room and the mic in the booth?
The connection from the mic into the power sources has 7 pins not the usual 3. Now is there a connctor you use to put into a wall box from booth to control room?
