I have been getting mixed answers on whether or not small diaphragm or large diaphragm mics are better for overheads on drums. What do you guys think? Can you give me a recommendation for some mics that cost between $299 and $399? If it was between a pair of RODE NT1000's or Shure SM81's which would be better?

I need help. I am using Cubase SX 2.0 and a stupid computer mic to record. But for some reason I can't record. I read the manual but it won't give me any tips on how to record with regular computer mic. Is this even possible? (feeling confused) I used sound recorder but it's stupid and only will allow me to record for 60 secs and i want my song to flow.

i'd appreciate some advice on a mic. it's for my home studio and i've been happy with my trusty sm58 for years but i think it's time to upgrade my mic since i would like to raise the quality of the vocals recordings (with the odd acoustic instrument every now and then).

I'm a home theatre guy conducting acoustical analyses on my home theatre. I'm using a PC to run the analysis. I'm still haven't decided on which programs to use so I'm currently testing out various demos (ETF, Smart, etc.). I'm using a Behringer UB802 mixer with two Behringer EMC8000 mics.

 Hi. My husband likes to come to this site so I have signed up to ask a question. There is a Gold Neumann U87 microphone on ebay. It says it is a 70th anniversary mic. What do you guys think? Should I get this for him as a present?

Anyone tried this? It handles 152 SPL, so it shouldn't break?

We'll be comparing 4 mics for vocal recording this week (thanks for the suggestions for which budget mics to try!), and so far I'm planning on just putting them up one at a time and recording the singer trying to sing the same thing the same way for each take.
