Vintage Mid 70's Neumann U87 Mic
Hey guys need your expert opinion. I've stumbled across a Neumann 1970's era U87,.. now the grill is a bit beat up and it is 30 years old. .are there any concerns or "red flags" I should be on the look out for with a mic this old?. He's asking 1,600 for it is this a fair asking price?...I am somewhat aware of this Mic's brilliant reputation but everything has a shelf life.

Serial number charts for vintage Neumann microphones
Anybody know if there exists a serial number chart for vintage Neumann mics ? Like the ones available for old grand pianos where you can look up the serial number and get to know the year it's manufactured in. Just out of curiosity (no big deal if I never know) I'd like to know what year my vintage Neumann is made. The serial number is there so it should not be impossible... Any tips ?
newbie question about mic connections
I am new to this forum. I've been reading it for a couple of weeks now. I apologize for asking this question if it has already been addressed. My search was unsuccessfull.

Is the 3D mic and 3D pre CD a good way to choose gear?
Whats the best way to choose you mics and your pres?
This seems like the most logical way. They just use 20 different
mics or pres and you get to choose.
It seems like these CDs would be really useful.
Have any of you used these CDs?
If they're good then they need one for A/D D/A converters.

Microphone test of vocal microphpones
A couple of Danish producers/engineers, among them Mr. Allan Bregnedahl and Torsten Matthiessen, got together this summer and tested as many microphones as they could get their hands on. A very interesting test, and I thought I would link to it here. It's in Danish, so I will just translate the introduction:
"The Great Microphone Test Vol. 2

Newbie recording question(maudio omnistudio usb,mic conga)
mother of all creatures, I received my m-audio omnistudio usb today. Allot of buttons, inputs/outputs it makes me cross-eyed.
Check it out, I got demo software of Vegas, Reason & Live Delta.
The one that seems pretty user friendly is Vegas, I actually found out how to record using the omnistudio. I hooked it up baby!.
