When do you buy two of the same mics?
I'm trying to figure this out: When you guys buy mics, when do you buy a pair, matched or otherwise, and when do you buy only a single mic. From what I've read, I understand it's great to have a pair of mics for overheads, but is it better to make sure you have two of a mic to begin with just incase?

Which Mic to buy?
Okay, here's the deal; I've got a new R&B group I'll be recording and it's a good oppurtunity for me. Currently my mic closet is overcrowed with me single SP C1:) which serves me well as it's my sole workhorse, but I'm looking to increase my choices. These guy's I'm going to be recording have smooth voices and I'd like to give them a little flavor.

Micing the flute
Does anyone have experience Micing the flute?
I'm particularly interested in mic positioning and mode, not effects or processing.
Many thanks,
Brian

CAD M9 vs. . . RODE K2
So I'm looking to pick up a decent mic for my project studio and from reading reviews and getting several opinions these two mics come up the most as the best in my price range. Any thoughts? I'm stuck with a dbx 386 pre and a PreSonus blue tube, though of course I'll be looking to upgrade to perhaps something from UA when funds allow.
Any suggestions or advice would be appreciated.

Convert a woofer to microphone?
I've been reading about people turning the woofer of NS10's and other speakers into mics. How do you do this?

How to Wire up a balanced Mic
Hi
I have an old Sony Condenser mic with a battery. I think it came with a stereo jack. I changed it to an xlr.
I am wondering if I wired it up right.

Mic Setup
Hi, Im new to digital recording and have a simple question.
After connecting my Shure pg58 to a preamp, do i then use an XLR-1/4" cable to run it into my emu's 1/4" input or do i use a straight 1/4" - 1/4" connection to the soundcard, baring in mind i want it to be a balanced connection.
Thanks
