3 - 1 micsetup
Hi!
When Micing a 4x12 guitarcab, is it safe to go 3 to 1 configuration without worring about phasecancellations? So if I slam a sm57 at the grill I could set a pg27 condenser x3 the distance and just push record? Do I need to have them on the same speaker or can I use two diffrent ones on a 4x12 cab?

Hanging DPA mics, recording theatrical Choir in theatre
I'm recording a choir in a playhouse next month. Its a new venue and concept for me. I'm going to need some last minute help on this, starting now :)
I'm using my trusted SF 24 in the center and hanging DPA 's down on top of them. Hanging mics is new for me.
The LCD are a matched pair of DPA 4011 cardiod's with the optional 2006 Omni caps, I'm thinking omni for this?
Mics for Field recording
I am buying some equipment for doing some field recording, ambiental sounds, natural sounds but also machines, rocks, chains: everything i'll find on my way, both indoor and outdoor. The main purpose is collecting sounds for music making.
My recording device is a Dr-40 Tascam.
Microphones: the whole me/k6 collection (used at ebay ;) )

Creating Impulse Responses using MS Micing technique.
So, I sometimes use the SIR1 plugin for reverb (its free!). It takes impulse responses of different locations around the world to simulate reverb. You can even make your own, which I did. I took a pair of SDC's and recorded them in XY inside a giant staircase in my school. It sounds pretty cool.
Mixing DAW and Mic: MacOS
For the purpose of recording video tutorials, I want to take the output of my DAW (Ableton), and mix the audio signal with the mic input from my Sound Card.
This seems fairly straight forward. Here's how I would expect it to work. My audio card is a Saffire USB 6. I also have Sound Flower installed for this purpose.

HDW microphones. whatever happned to. ?
Just a shot in the dark here; mostly for fun I picked up a really cheap/inexpensive mic - an HDW203 - from Craigslist. It was a tiny brand that doesn't seem to exist anymore: HDW microphones, (Chinese imports) run by a guy named Hans Washburn.

High-end miniature microphones
Hi experts,
I’m doing a bit of research into the high-end miniature microphones market (headset, lavalier type mics used in theater for example).
Does anyone have an idea of how many miniature mics are being sold each year and how many of those mics are Countryman vs DPA vs Sennheiser vs Shure vs other (?) mics?
Just looking to get a sense of their relative size…
