I work at an advertising agency here in Philadelphia and I need a Voice-over studio in Boston. It will most likely be an hour or so.

It's on. August 9th @ Cafe Brazil in Deep Ellum in Dallas. It's at 5:00. Email me if you have ideas for what we can do and/or if you wish to attend.

Ok. Went to SamAsh today to look around at home multi-track recorders (I'm thinking about getting a little Tascam 4-track to teach myself some of the basics of recording - I'm a spoken word/singer type). So, the sales guy shows me this ZOOM MRS802XX multi-track recording studio on sale for $549 (from $979) with CD burner, etc.

...deciding what I should do for the signal chain of my home studio.

Purpose: voice-over demos/auditions

Budget: Up to $600 for a versatile piece of equipment

Idea: a single box that will preamp the mic, apply adjustable compression, and have an EQ capability

One possibility is the Focusrite "Penta" at $399 (samash)

Question... I have a laptop with Sonar, and i also have a Motif 8. I was planning on getting the M-Audio Quattro to act as a sound card/audio interface. . but i saw some bad reviews on it. people, please tell me the best way to go... Quattro? E-Magic? Any other suggestions?

For isn'tance when Digital Cameras hit 11.4mega pixels they surpassed film in equivalent resolution...

How is this mic in comparison to other similarly priced condensor mics for vocals and acoustic instruments? I've been using one for a while and haven't had anything else to compare it to. I'd be interested to hear some other peoples opinions.
