Anyone out there useing the Distressors at the mix stage?

Well I'm confused... as soon as I have built my DAW, the questione comes: What should I upgrade?
This is my list:
Mobo Asus P4B533-V (upgrade BIOS?)
soundcard RME Hammerfall LE 9636 (upgrade drivers?)
Win XP-pro.. is there anything to upgrade?...( the DAW is not connected to internet )
And finally Cubase SX v.1.03 (upgrade or not?)

Right. me and another producer are going to be working together on some projects.

In terms of multitracks, he has a Mackie HDR2496, I have a Nuendo system.

I am looking for that kind of thing to use primarily for mix down. The smaller the better (size-wise).

I'm recording with a MOTU 828 a drum kit, I'm not clipping any where, everything as been look cafully by a pro-tech but we have a problem:

I'm using a superlux PRA-218A. Can it be a problem with the mic ? I just bought it . so can it be a problem with the membRane ?

Any thought ?

Does anyone know anything about it? I tried to go to their website at http://www.the plugin list.com and it wasn't there. Did they move to somewhere else? It was a great resource for trying new effects etc. Too bad if its gone.

I am brand new to Sonar and have a question regarding sending audio out of Sonar2.2XL.

First off I have no outboard gear or mixers besides a small headphone amp that allows me to send power to 6 headphone jacks.

My Sound card is full duplex with 8 ins and 8 outs (Aardvark Q10.)

What I am trying to achieve is this:

I know this is too broad of a question, but I am curious what effects I should use on my music - less is more in my opinion, but for folk music with a bluegrass flavor I usually put a little reverb on vocals and a little stereo delay on everything except bass guitar, bass drum. Anything that I'm missing to get a full sound.

For fun, i'm creating a drum program from scratch for Kontakt. What I can't figure out is how to link the open and closed hats so that when the closed hat is triggered, the open hat stops playing. I've scoured the manual and have not found the answer. Anybody out there that knows how?

I am using a digital recorder that has an onboard
CD burner. to mix to CD I must first bounce record it(all my completed tracks) to two tracks.
