When an artist wants to own his master, are they actual tapes or CDs? If so how do they get to that format from the CD? I know the distributors need a certain format to copy the CD but what format is that?

I just bought an ART Tube MP Studio V3 preamp, and am plugging it into the "line in" input on my computer. It just came in yesterday, and for the ten minutes I had to play with it I was Micing my acoustic guitar. I got a great signal. Today I plugged my electric guitar directly into it, and it was barely giving me any gain.

Hey guys, I was hoping (after re-recording my songs) to get a CD produced this summer. I don't live off of playing music or anything, so just something to get it out there would be cool. About production though, I have 2 questions:

Can anyone tell me the power consumption (in watts) of a Crate GT212. It is not on amp or in the manual!

I am upgrading my studio completely this is what i have in mind of getting:
Mackie 24/8 board, Running into a MOTU 24 I/O PCI into the DAW then coming back out of the MOTU 24 I/O back into input B on the Mackie for final Mixdown and finally ending up in the Alesis ML9600 Master Link CD Burner.

I thought I'd share this remote recording story. Sorry no audio sound samples of this piano recording yet. I''ll have to clear it with the client. I'd appreciate reactions, comments or sharing of your own experiences in remote recording whether piano or other instruments.
