I have a home studio, for now I'm just doing my own stuff. I am new to recording and have a question on Headphones. I need to buy two headphones, one for me to do the mixing and the other for musicians playing, guitar, bass etc..

What is the difference between closed headphones, open headphones, and Hi FI Pro Stereo headphones.

Hey, I am currently in the design phase of my new compressor. I want to continue my pink noise filter in the control path concept, as well as add a few more filters. Plus I want to add a parallel compression idea to the unit. I was wondering what your thoughts are on these concepts and what other features you might find useful in a compressor.

Hi I was wondering, what is the best option in PC to use in my recording studio, I know it's not the same as MAC but I'm not really ready to make the transition and spend a whole lot of money on new software, what do you think is the best option in PC for me?

some one told me to do this, "put 2 SM57 mics in front of 2 speakers, phase aligned going through a good preamp". what does phase aligned mean? any suggestions on a preamp? can a mixer used for live performances work as a preamp? or can i just skip all this and use the direct out? what will give me the best sound? last question, I'm planning on doing this stereo, panning it right and left.

I was just wondering everbodys thoughts on how metallica achieved its guitar sound on the garage inc album. On songs like astronomy, whisky in a jar, turn the page. I was wondering peoples thoughts on what amps they used, amp settings, mic technique, mic placement, tracks, tuning, plugins, eq, everything.

I bought a used Roland EXR-5 and want to use it as a Midi controller to record on a computer with Cubase LE. I will need some driver or software so that the computer recognizes the MIDI info, dont I? Only thing I could find online is this, is this right? Anyone know where the link is? Please help. Thanks Michel
