Recording Spoken Word - Live Q&A Discussions
Forums
I'm not sure if this is the right forum (I also tried the vocals forum), but i was hoping someone might be able to help me out. From time to time, I record 4-6 person discussion/ Q&A panels. Because of the organization's budget, I have been using the equipment that they already own (bottom-line handheld cardioid mikes, mixer, tape deck, and portable PA system).

Guitar Modelers, which one and why?
Forums
If possible would you rate the following: Boss GT-8, Line 6 PodXT Live, Voice Tonelab SE, Johnson J-station
Im after the most, like anyone else is, I guess. The most/nicest clean and distortion sounds. Think AudioSlave/System of a Down crunch.
Think Gavin DeGraw/Cold Play clean/ambient sounds.
If possible give any pros/cons to look out/listen for.

Essential rack gear?
Forums
I'm purchasing a compressor soon as was wondering how big of a rack I should I get and what other gear would you consider essential for tracking? I just want a small, portable setup so I can also do on location work. Thanks.

External Inserts on Mbox
Forums
Aight I have the cable that goes off to two unbalanced cables with tip in the input and ring in the output. Now when I try to insert it on a track on pro tools it is telling me that the I/O is already being used by another device which is my output for the overall mix. Having only two input and outputs on the Mbox, how am I supposed to insert the effect on a track in the software?

metal pop filters
Forums
What's the low down on the metal pop filters?
To my knowledge they don't absorb some of the sound like nylon filters. which allow the tones and frequencies to pass, but still blocking plosives and air (pops)
?
