I want to replace my Event TR8's...I don't like them!

I was looking at these to replace the TR8's:

-Wharfedale 8.2 actives
-Yamaha MSP5's
-KRK V6's

Hi! I guess this must be a pretty hackneyed topic, but I'm in the market for a new sound card. I have a few options:
1. Echo (Layla or the AudioFire 8
2. Emu 1820
3. RME Multiface with the PCI (a bit too expensive for me)
4. Anything with pristine quality with as many inputs as possible (ouputs aren't important - a stereo pair will do just fine).

Here is the deal. I need to transfer some 1/2" reels recorded at 7 1/2 ips into a DAW, but the playback machine only does 15ips it seems. I was wondering if there is some kind of plugin that can be used to slow down the 2xspeed audio to where it sounds normal without losing much quality. It is pretty much just voice I believe, anyway.

Are there any issues with service pack 2?

Okay, this is something I've found quite interesting.

I've recently been recording into Sonar and Sampitude, but monitoring through the DAC-1 (via the recording software).
I use AKG K271 headphones that provide good isolation at higher frequencies.

I tracked some drums recently, and the cymbals came out really 'wishy washy' for lack of a better term. Not sure how to explain it, but it's basically the sound changing from the cymbal rocking back and forth on it's stand.

Hello! I currently have a PreSonus Firestation. It's great, but... I need more inputs :-. So, I was wondering, since I am using my Firestation on my firewire card (PCMCIA), and only using 1 port (1/2), could I also hook up let's say an M-Audio Solo to the other port and also record from both hardware.

Ok. I have this HUMUNGOUS book that came with my MOTU and it's for the recording software that came with it. I forget what it's called but it looks like it might be something I should check out possibly. Problem is, I own a PC and I've been running nothing but PC's since I was about 8 and playing games on my dad's computer.
