Portable Recording Advice
Forums
Hi, I do voice-overs from my desktop using Cool Edit Pro or Adobe Audition, a Eurorak mixer & various mics. I would like to purchase a laptop in order to be able to record when i am away from home - carrying the Eurorak & mic with me, of course.

Sampling
Forums
I want to record my own samples via microphone. Onto an electribe or an akai. What else is out there? I need something portable. Good quality. Modules with envelope and other tweaks or effects, a pluss. Sequencing isn't necesarry, as long as I can move the data. WHat else is out there?

A/D + preamp or GREAT preamp ?
Forums
Hey
What you guys think would be the best choice?
To have Apogee buddle good preamp and good a/d converter ( I meant, mine-me :) ) or just leave the a/d's job for the audio interface for now ( m-audio delta 66) and use the money to get better pair of mic preamp amps ?

Forums
Greetings,
Any help would be great.
I have a EMU0404. I have Cool Edit Pro ver 2 installed. I can play sounds through the Cool Edit and via the computer. However, I can not record using the above. Cool edit does not Hear my inputs. (MIc, Playback, CD etc..)
I use Cool Edit at another studio and have no problems with it. This is a new install and..WOW!

What I wish I knew before I bought a FW hard drive ...
Forums
I thought I had turned over every stone during my search for the perfect external firewire hard drive for me. I finally bought the LaCie d2 triple interface extreme. Everything was good until it mysteriously pooped out on me during a session. I've since got it working again, and recovered the data, but it put a big crimp in a session and left me less than confident in future performance.
Mac Interface/ Test
Forums
Well a lot of this may be to have the ability to work on a remix for NIN's "the hand that feeds" since it was released in a garageband format. But I have become more curious to see what all of these "MAC" people tend to rave about. That and it would not hurt to know the system and it would only assist in my music creation if anything.

mini mac
Forums
Does anyone else here think the mini mac is a great idea? You can use it to start recording with accompanied by a firepod or other such firewire device, and if your studio grows, you can still make use of it. Extra processing power, more storage, or just for a computer to put internet on if you dont want to risk viruses on your high-endmachine.
