I know some folks here advertise "complete packages" for recording/mixing/mastering as well as actually manufacturing finished CD's with album art, etc... I've never done this before, but now I've got orchestra and choir clients asking me to quote a price for a whole package like this, including the CD manufacturing (2000-4000 discs initially).

can you use for example an A&H gl-2200, which I know is used mostly as an FOH, as a recording/studio console? I am looking for a good analog board for recording...but is something like this tuned for live only?

Im currently using the Audiophile 2496 by M-Audio. I read up on some other cards like the E-MU 1820m the 1010 by m-audio the MBOX and others. .My question is what is up with this 192khz compared to the 96khz on the lower class interfaces. My audiophile runs 24/96khz the higher end 1820m by Emu runs 24/192khz But then also on the higher end the 1010 by audiophile also runs 24/96khz.

At the moment I use an Allen & Heath 16 channel mixer. When I go to upgrade to a console. What brand names are the best? (anything under $30,000)
And where are some of the best places to look for used consoles, or even new ones?

I'd like to upgrade my interface/soundcard and am looking for your thoughts. Bear in mind that as I'll be continuing to use a laptop so it must connect via firewire or USB rather than slotting into the motherboard.

Hey gang, I have had one of these puppies backordered (from 8thstreet.com) for about 7 weeks and it is driving me nuts !

How picky does one have to be about the exact angle, and distance between capsules when using ORTF?

If 'very picky,' why?

What works best, cardioid, hypercardioid, or omni?
