preamp upgrade
Forums
yup another one of those 'what preamp shall i buy' topics..
But my question is subtly different..
I have a Focusrite platinum voicemaster right now, i use the eq normally, then run through a urei1178 ..With a condenser I'm getting pretty nice vocal sounds, and my dynamic guitar sound is fairly o.k.
BUT. .I have just bought a Shure SM7B dynamic mic, for rock vocals

Best mastering converters?
Forums
Hi all,
i want your opinion about the best sounding ad da converters on the market these days ?
i'm a recording mastering engineer and i'm using outboard gear (tube eq's and compression) when i master and i'm using the RME ad's and they are good converters,i am satisfied with their results in recordings, but in mastering they are ok,i'm sure there are better ones

Burning Barracudas
Forums
My two Seagate Barracuda SATA drives are just too hot. During operation, you cannot leave your hand in contact with them for more than two seconds without getting burned. Naturally, I am worried about them. I have worked very hard to ensure that my PC is extremely quiet, so I want to avoid installing a third fan at all costs.

Looking for RADAR equipped room in Baltimore
Forums
Hi all
One of my partners has to track some vocals in the Baltimore area in the next few weeks. We would like to find a RADAR equipped room to use for a few days - he can bring mics & pres if necessary. We are based in St. Thomas Virgin Islands and are actually the RADAR Dealer for the Caribbean - will rent the room or trade for tracking time in our studio.

New Lynx outboard converters
Forums
I don't know if this is widely known and I'm just slow to the party, or if this is really that new, but Lynx has released two new stand-alone converter boxes. If they do for stand-alones what they did for "in-the-box" conversion - this is bound to be exciting.
