Tascam US-224 USB any good?

Anybody work with this thing? I just got it and am running my mixes though it- I can tweak them with eq to sound better but haven't been able to get them louder- I got some demos I would like to send out with a little more volume but don't really want to pay for mastering as these are demo songs and if the songs are picked up they will get rerecorded anyway... any help is appreciated :D

What exactly is an A&R rep? How does one get into this field? Is it better to have some sort of degree to get into this or is it just a kind of on the fly, learn as you go kind of thing?

Pardon me, but I have a dumb question.

A few people mention tone, recording low end from one amp, mids from one and highs from another, etc etc. I can imagine that this is all important for a good sounding guitar, but what I don't understand is how to get that "tone" to come across if you are using a HPF so things don't get muddy.

What is the difference between the Neve 1073 and the 1272? I'm looking the get some Neve preamps but seems that that all the 1073's have the eq which I don't need, I just need the actual input preamp. Is the 1272 the input preamp for the 1073?

I have seen their products around, and I was just wondering if anyone here has any experience with their software.

there is a slight lag time between when i press the keyboard and when the sound is played on my laptop through Cubase sx. I am using midisport usb interface, i have 2 things i can improve on my laptop. I can either upgrade the ram because i only have 256mb, or get an external soundcard, the one i have right now really sucks. Which do you think is the reason? thanks

hey people i was reading sound on sound or something along those lines and i read someting about a plugin which automatically sets and adjusts eq in the recording.

If both are utter pants in your opinion give some other suggestions in the same price range :) I won't benefit going upward in price because the rest of the gear wouldn't match ;P

I am trying to obtain some information on funding sources for recording studios (how to obtain grants, etc.. and where to obtain them from).

If anybody associated with recording studios has anything they can tell me that will lead me in the right spot, I would greatly appreciate it!
