A banjo guy is coming in...could use some experience
Forums
He will be solo, no singing, so I'm already lucky. His style is
not a rolling banjo, but a strident picking, and at times he
hammers with his fingertips on the membrane, kinda like a
conga drum, between the quarter notes.
His style sounds alright, but very in my face.
Grot box to replace the NS10M?
Forums
Any suggestions? The NS10 was, to me, a horribe sounding speaker that did an excellant job for mid range mixing. But they dont make em any more. Has anyone got any suggestion as a replacement. So far I have heard of the new Yamaha MSP5 and the Triple P Pyramid. Any others worth mentioning?
Cheers!
Paul Blenn

Make your own cable ques.
Forums
It occured to me that one can make 10 quality cables for less than what 4 already made cost. I'm good with a soldering iron, so what the hey. Done a couple and they work great, but I want to make sure I'm doing it correctly so I have a few questions. I'm using Mogami cable and Neutrik connects BTW.

recording slang and equiptment names
Forums
for all of those who are new to recording and audio gear, could someone explain the slang used in recording (ex: pre, pres, pin 3 hot)
anyone up for that?
and also the names of equiptment and what they do. (ex: compressor, phantom power, etc.)
it'd be awesome if you guys could do that.

File Conversion App
Forums
Hi!
My multi track recorder prints SDII files so I often have to go beween SDII and aiff.
Does anyone care to share their experience with file conversion applications?
What are your favorites?
Does anyone hear any differences between the different formats?
Also, any opinions on what's the best way to go between interleaved and split stereo files?

adding powered subwoofer to monitors...
Forums
hey I have a set of M-Audio BX5 monitors that I use 80% of the time just to listen to music. I'd like to add a powered subwoofer to give it some kick. I don't want a reference sub, and I will isolate the sub when doing any mixing anyhow. I can get a sub at wholesale from work easily, but my problem is how to interface it...
