I have a choice between a new Mackie Control Universal Pro* at EUR 1,200 or a used Mackie Universal Controller eMagic** for EUR 400. Naturally, the used one seems more attractive but can anyone advise if it will integrate as well with Sonar 8.5 as the newer model will?

I just purchased a pair of tannoy reveal 402s and they are fantastic! I've had a lot of fun doing some mixing from http://www.cambridge-mt.com/ms-mtk.htm mostly metal as its my main musical interest!

The pop filter is not bad on the SM58, but Shure's. website talks about the 565SD's great pop filter.
So I am wondering!

Please help me figure out what instrument this is:

I am familiar with Blumlein recording of small ensembles, using the coincident Royers ribbon or similar. But when working with a full symphony - spread out across 50-60 feet of (indoor) stage space, what do you recommend? Two or more Blumlein setups? One, and some "spot" micing?

I would appreciate your opinion on the Focurite Octopre MKII, mostly the sound quality.
I want to add more mic inputs to my setup. I already have a computer interface with optical I/O (MOTU 828 MKII) so I think the Octopre would do the job at the right price.
Because it is a newer design, I would use the Octopre clock to sync the 828MKII.

Is there on market a good 8 mic channel mixer to use stand alone and also as controller for Pro Tools with an ADAT interface on it?
