Howdy
A good topic to kick around every so often. Keyboardists and synth programmers tend to get pretty interesting gigs every now and then so I thought I'd start a thread to see what it is you hep cats do. Do you play gigs? Do studio dates? Design sounds? Sample?
Let us know what you do. I'll come back in awhile and tell you what I'm up to.

Chandler LTD-1, Vintech X73 or Averill 1073?
I need to make a choice. I can only afford one of these.
It will be used on guitars with a Royer R-121
All feedback appreciated.
Any thoughts on which unit will hold its value the longest?

Forums
Here's my dilemma ...
I'd love to hear what you would choose in this situation.
I'm just starting out in PC recording.
I have a Desktop computer in my basement office.
I also have a wireless laptop.

Beatles Altec compressors
Forums
Hello Everyone,
I've always heard that Paul's bass went through a TUBE version of the Altec comp. Maybe a 436 or 438C. Now while looking at page 165 of "the complete Beatles Recording Sessions" I'm seeing what appear to be Altec comps, but they appear closer to the 1591A.

KSM44
Forums
For my band's studio I was planning on buying approximately 5 good ($500 and up) vocal microphones, spending 2-3 weeks testing them to find out which one would be best for our singer's voice, keeping that one, and returning the rest. Then I found out that stores don't let you return microphones because of health issues. So I have to choose one and hope to get lucky.

Reference versus Play-along Monitor
Forums
Can a reference monitor like Mackie or Bringer Truth be used to play-along with or are they strickly for monitoring pre-recorded music? Currently, I use a set of 15-inch EV-152 and a 200 watt amplifier at very low volume to play-along and record. I was looking to reduce the size and replace the amplifier using a aplified monitor setup. Thank you for your help.

ATA 100 vs 133 question.
Forums
I've seen that many people use in their DAW the Asus MB. And i've seen too, people asking for advice to build a new DAW, and saing that they have bought HDD WD 80 GB ATA 133. So i've check Asus site and i find that only the PC800 Delux with the Intel 875P have support for ATA 133 in "RAID mode".

YEAH for the RIAA
Forums
Well YOU may not like it.
But I make my living solely from recording. I'm raising a family doing it. So ANYTHING that might help curb illegal downloading (at this point) is fine by me.
Stealing is wrong. Rationaliztion has become way too prevalent.

outdoor EQ help requested
Forums
Would appreciate any words of wisdom regarding FOH and monitor mix guidelines for the following outdoor gig I am helping put together. Our band is playing in the backyard with the equipment and sound facing away from the house to a large open area with a row of tall trees about 75 feet back. We'll be using a couple of JBL 925's (2 way 15") with a powered sub for FOH.
