a) when do you think is it time to upgrade your monitors? at each 5 years? I am not mentioning here substitution of pieces, like tweeters, connectors, crossoverss and so. I know this question looks weird, because some guys spend lots of years with the same monitors...

I am going to upgrade my hardrive (main) to a much larger unit (0.2Tbytes).

In XP, will the operating system work without having to replace it? I have been told any hardware upgrades dictate that XP is rendered useless and considered a "hack" or a "crack" job.

I have a VERY humble recording apparatus at my disposal, namely: Dell 333 PII, Turtle Beach Montego soundcard, Cool edit pro, Cakewalk Pro 8, Windows 98 OS. Could I benefit from a plugin , especially a freeware program, that will allow me to better control the ability to further improve the sound of my mixes/demos? I know it's out there.

I have a new AW16G and have tried to record my saved sounds to the built in CD-Audio. No success. I have used the mixdown function and believe that I have created a stereo track. However, the "Track at once" function under CD only displays "No Track". How can I get this working?

I just got a studio projects vtb-1 and i am wondering what would be the best way to connect it to the Q10
should i run through the inserts or the inputs on the front of the interface?
is anyone else using these two in conjunction with each other?

I am about to make a change to my studio setup as follows:

I am using Cubase SX, have a Tascam US-428 as a control surface, and an old POS analog mixer that I use for monitoring only (nothing that gets recorded goes through the Tascam or the mixer).

Does anyone know of any problems running audio on a Matsonic Motherboard with an sis chipset. here is the chipset: SIS 651 + 961 and SIS 651 + 962.
I am running a gina 20 with P4 2.0, 512 ddr.
please help me cause sometimes it runs great and others it fails. I run Win2K with sonar, nuendo, Acid, WaveLab 4, Sondforge 6, and some other stuff.

Just wondering, after the inital excitement of the new intel boards offering dual ddr400 ram and lots of people deciding between either waiting for these to arrive or going with the P4PE...

Does anyone know if and when these boards are to arrive and if so, are they worth it in real world DAW use.

Waves bundle preview function quit working.

I tried the restoration...still, no preview. I have real time checked.

What gives?

Anyone can help me here? I use them but they are useless without the preview function.
