CDs for Masterlink
I was wondering if anyone could tell me what the best type of CDr to get for the Alesis Masterlink.
I already use the Taiyo Yuden 650 Meg / 74 min.
That is the Silver series.
Are 80 minutes as long as they get and are these considered the best?
Apreciate the help!

Active FET preamp(acoustic guitar) direct.
...to the board, or analog audio microphone direct to the board? Pros and Cons? Suggestions?
I will be recording a blues medly with acoustic guitar and a single voice. By the nature of the song, the medley is better played and sung simultaneously than overdubbed, and I need not be concerned with the physical placement or presence of an additional mike.

Hi I'm working on a choir-project and would be glad to get some tips of microphone placement.
I'm using 2 Neumann U87 as nearfield and a peral stereomic as ambience and it's the nearfield that I'm asking about.

Bouncing to disk or not?
I have a 16 bit 48K session and instead of bouncing it to disk, I want to try to record it directly to a CD, via S/PDIF out into a Phillips CD burner. Is there a way to do this? Like a "dithering" for sampling rate? What do you guys recommend quality wise?

Can someone suggest a compressor...two bus
I'm working in Pro Tools TDM, would like to invest in outboard compression for the mix bus. Or a plugin ? (prefer outboard that could be used for other things) Any suggestions appreciated. Craig

DAW for mastering?
i've got a full digital performer set up and i'm familiar with most of the DAWs out there for mixing.
what are some of the mastering software available for mac? any free demo downloads? i just want something that give me a nice spectral analyzer and allows me to jump all around all the tracks testing different parts.

Mackie HR8-24 Monitors - What settings?
Hi,
I was curious regarding the Bass roll off switch.
For regular mixing I keep the Bass freq switch in the middle. For playback I will switch it to 37Hz.
It of course has the NS-10 simulation roll off as well at respectfuly 80Hz.
My qestion is should I be mixing in the standard setting at 47Hz, or use the more trastic 80Hz?

Why in the world.
..don't we see more summing bus hardware? With all the people who bash PT's summing bus, I would figure more companies would have stepped up and made a simple 8/16/24 channel summing bus mixer. Nothing but pan, gain and a fader.
Now I just don't count the Manley mixer. Come on...too expensive for what it is. Notsure I want the "Manley sound" on everything either.
