The mix bus was high!
As we strive to get a good sound out of pro tools remember...
Cause the mix bus was high!
(Sing along now)
Was gonna mix my song today, but the mix bus was high
Was gonna make that vocal sit, but the mix bus was high
Now my mix sounds like sh*t and I know why
The mix bus was high, the mix bus was high the mix bus was high..

Acappella Recording Project - Advice ?
I will be recording an acappella group later this week, in a church building (medium size, but not too bad as far as bright echoes). There will be about 16 singers, 4 or so per section (soprano, alto, tenor, bass). I'm planning to have them stand in a rough semicircle in 4 separate groups, maybe 5 feet apart, maybe less.

Computer audio quality...
Hi,
Please lend your opinions/observations...
The question is--is it really possible to get the same digital audio integrity out of a properly set up PC or Mac DAW as out of a stand alone unit, like a Tascam DA-88?

Need advice on recorder purchase...
Hi, We are about to purchase a Tascam mx 2424, for it's possibilities of sharing sessions with PT.
The question is: will a Mac work with a souncard like MOTU the same way? Will I be able to Install an 001, to import the sound files with PT? Any conflicts between the two soundcards?

Midi problem...Any midiots out there?
I have several midi devices. One is a Roland M-VS1 module. I set the midi receive to channel 4. It still receives on other channels...WHY? I use a Fatar 88 key midi controller.
I can enable midi track 2 in Cubase and it will trigger the sounds of this module...Everything is on Midi channel 2..I don't get it?
I only want it to receive on channel 4 and that's it!

How do you rate the T.C. 96K Finalizer?
Hello all,
This is my first time here and I would very much apreciate a little feed back regarding the 96K Finalizer.
Firstly, let me say I am a Composer and own my own private studio that is operated just for myself.
I have never Mastered before, however my goel is to take all the 2,4 track cassete masters, 1/4 inch and 1/2 8 track masters for Finalizing to DAT.

when dou you initiate the stereo buss compressor(s)
Just curious as to when other mixers start engaging stereo compression in the mix process.
Micing a standard trap set for jazz
Hi all...I'm looking for some conventional wisdom that could help me get a decent sound (1st time Micing drums), using the following:
1 Audix OM/2
1 Hi quality stereo binaural Mic
1 SM58
I will be recording to a Kork D12 (can record 4 tracks at once).
Any help with placement (especially), and EQ etc would really be appreciated.
Thanks!

Classical Guitar on a budget
I have an Alesis board, Alesis AI3 Converters, 2 SM57s, 1 AKG 3000b, an AKG 590S dynamic, a Audio-Technica MB4000C condensor, 2 Radio Shack dynamic omnis (made by Shure) and a waiting client. I have never recorded classical guitar before and would like to know what others have tried on such a low budget.
