Drum Micing Questions

I have a really basic question (even though I'm sure that the answers probably won't be!)...I've always heard that there are so many different ways to record a good set. Is there any particular technique that you should use over any other? The Shure Kit I have (with the SM57's) seems to be able to handle it...

ANY ideas or suggestions would be great! Thanks!

Under the hood, Pt.2 - Studio Projects C1 vs. . Nady SCM10

Both are multipatten (omni, cardioid, & figure 8) with tiny switches for pattern selection, roll off, and a -10 dB pad.

The Nady is similar in construction to the Marshall V67G except with a shorter, heavier body, and a U87 type grille. The SP C3 is built exactly the same as the C1. Each had 5 transistors.

REX 2

Guess there aren't many ReCycle users, but for those who use grooves a lot, I just wanted to ask if there's a way to have stereo groove loops matched to a Nuendo project's tempo, because stereo REX 2 files from ReCycle 2 can't be opened. Any ideas?
