Dorm Studio, please help?
Forums
I am just getting started in the whole recording scenario. I am living in a dorm so everything has to be modest. I was wondering if poeple could point my in the right direction. I could use some help finding some inexpenseive, yet quality monitors. Should i get a USB mixer or interface? And for a midi controller I was feeling the M-Audio Axiam Pro 61. Also what software would you recommend?

Humidity control around musical instruments
Forums
It's that time of year again. Cold snap in the mountains of SW Virginia and NO moisture in the air. I keep room humidifiers running all winter so that my frets don't start popping and instruments start falling apart. I don't like piano humidifiers or guitar case humidifiers. I prefer to keep the whole room moist rather than put the moisture close to one part of the instrument.

Anyone Have Experience With the Firestudio Mobile?
Forums
I have an oldish Firepod circa 2006 which is on its last leg. It's the 8 input one, kind of like the newer Firestudio. I don't record drums and have no need for 8 inputs anymore. I obviously want to stick with firewire connectivity for the speed and could be fine with just 2 inputs, so I'm curious what people are saying about the Firestudio Mobile?

My huge slide guitar is too huge!
Forums
Hi! Thanks for dropping by this thread.
I have a problem in recording my slide guitar. It sounds huge - so huge, in fact, that it dominates the entire mix. Either that or I have to turn it down too low to be heard.
So, I've tried FX and no FX, compression, a condenser, a dynamic, and a ribbon, a limiter, and EQ. None have worked, although they did change the sound.

Forums
Are there any small condenser mics under £100 with a flat response from 2000 to 20.000 . .
Are we talking RODE M3 ? or anything else out there
Under 2000 response not an issue in this case...I'm only interested in the best quality over 2000
?
prefer the mics to be black as well LOL :)
any advice much appreciated.

Trying to learn more about windows 7
Forums
Last week i switched from a 5 year old 350 atlon xp 32bit to windows 7 I-3 dual core 64bit cause my workhorse finally went black. We were recording a bass track and i heard a zzzzit and that was the end of last saturdy night.
The new computer is great, no driver issues with any of my plugs or the zed R16 driver and i did the usual tweaks.
Disabled all non relative services.

Fundamentals of initiating project songs- Where to start?
Forums
Let's say one is starting a new song in Cubase. Where exactly should the start be? In other words, we could push the cursor out in the field a bit, and leave some space at the front, or we can start right at the very left of the track. Does it depend on what kind of songs or what instruments will be used? I am thinking in terms of how the song is put together further down the road.
What's the best way to run a long signal from a head amp to an isobox cabinet?
Forums
Hey guys, I recently build an isobox for my speaker cabinet so I can crank my tube amp without disturbing the neighbors too much the head amp I've been using it's most of the times just a couple of inches away from the isobox but now I want to move the head to where my control room is at witch is considerably a long distance.
