i am using a baby blue bottle for recording vocals and sm57/md421 for guitar cabs

if i can't have an api3124 ... whats a nice preamp for around $750-1000. most importantly for vocals and electric guitars

any suggestions?

I'm just looking for basic but good preset synthe sounds not unlike the Killers used on their debut LP "Hot Fuss". I tried absynthe but wasn't feeling the presets and don't know enough to tweak them to sound how I'd like, besides they didn't have much in the way of steady saw/lead type stuff. And Omnisphere is too massive for what I want.

Hey, my computer is kinda f****d, and I've decided it's time to upgrade to something roughly in the 'latest & greatest' category. I use a lot of CPU heavy stuff like kontakt so I need something with plenty of processor and ram under the hood. I've been a PC user for all of my musical life, but I have plenty of experience with macs, and to be honest I like both pretty much equally.

Hi everyone. I'm hoping to get some good advice in upgrading my home recording gear to accomplish better quality results. Let me describe what I've been doing and then please advise me with some good opinions on my best next step. I'm a fingerstyle guitarist doing all instrumental tracks. Main guitar is a Taylor 714ce, I've been recording into a Tascam DP01FX lately with fair results.

...from Panda Bear's "Comfy in Nautica" (and practically every other of his songs). The vocals kick in around 26 seconds. I'm seeking opinions on what kind of effects the vocals may have been run through beyond the heavy reverb. Any ideas?

Hi folks.. anyone have opinions about using a mac mini.. say the 4gb version for setting up a DAW? I've been pondering making the leap and have heard great things about using a mac for recording.

Well, I have a Korg Analog 4-track and I can fill up all four tracks and playback what I just recorded and all four will play, but if I take the tape out of the machine and put it into my home stereo for example only the first 2 tracks will play. and if you flip the tape over to the other side you can hear the last 2 tracks being played but in reverse.

HI I am shopping without a clue for christmas gift for my son who wants to be able to record his paying the drums- home by no means a professional studio. Can someone please guide me as to what is neededm without having to mortgage my house, yet not buying garbage either. Any advice is greatly appreciated. He is starting from zero equipment at this point!

The only difference is that mine has a 'Z' behind the name...So if his is Bubba Blocker, mine is Bubba Blockerz

He's been using it long before I have...

His genre of music is totally different to mine, he lives in Pittsburgh (I live in London).. He's unsigned.
