Best Free Sound Recorder for MAC

I don't run a MAC, but a fellow musician does. I'd like to help him get a free sound recorder up and running so he can capture audio on his MAC PC. Can anyone suggest a free program that would work best for him (OS X). I thought Audacity might make the list.

I'm a Windows user running CDex and I'm delighted. I'd like him to have a similar MAC-based app.

Room Temperature affects sound mix

Hi all. I am new here and have a question regarding temperature and the mixing process. It is because during training a sound engineer has encouraged the idea of "zeroing" the sound board after every use; claiming the reason is because room temperatures fluctuate day-to-day and affect the overall mix (wavelength changes).

What I have found is this:

Solution for Plosives

I've got my SM58 here and an external pop filter set up but I still get pretty strong plosives on the stronger syllables. I've heard of the coat hanger and pantyhose trick, but I don't want to buy a whole box of pantyhose just to use one of them... and to be blatantly honest I wouldn't be comfortable using a pair of my mothers. Let's just say that outright.

mike and ike

I've had my studio projects c1 for at least 6 or 7 years. i've owned since then, only a few nicer mics, (groove tubes gt66, blue blueberry, sure ksm32, 421II, sm7b, not much too special, but still a few good ones, and have been plugged into my gt brick, api512c, purple biz, osa preamps going through my fireface 800. yet for some odd reason, haven't found one i like better then the C1.

Synthe VST Alternatives to Absynthe or Omnisphere

I'm just looking for basic but good preset synthe sounds not unlike the Killers used on their debut LP "Hot Fuss". I tried absynthe but wasn't feeling the presets and don't know enough to tweak them to sound how I'd like, besides they didn't have much in the way of steady saw/lead type stuff. And Omnisphere is too massive for what I want.

New Here: Monitor question?

Hello guys, I'm new here which you can see clearly by this being my first post. I have a question about monitors.

In your opinion, whats the best pair of monitors for a max price of $1600?

I know people will have different opinions on what the "best" may be but I'd still like to hear what people have to say about different products.
