Easy to use DAW with advanced features?
Forums
Perhaps an "easy to use DAW" is an oxymoron, but I can tell you that Cubase, Audition, Audacity and even Sound Forge have thrown me for a loop.

Cambridge spanked by TRacks Linear Phase EQ
Forums
With the IKMultimedia promotion on their plugs currently get 5 plugs for $99 I thought I would demo them since I mostly use the UA plugs when mixing. I thought I would do a little test against the Cambridge and their Linear Phase EQ. In a session I usually use the Cambridge on non-essentials but in this case I wanted to para-metrically remove stuff from a guitar track so I used it on that.

Computer audio solution
Forums
I have a computer with on-board audio. Line out is pretty good quality.
I would like to have a really good pair of speakers placed near LCD monitor.
Should I go for active monitors or should I go for an integrated amp +
speakers?

Monitor hum
Forums
So it seems whenever my recording laptop is charging, it would cause
my studio monitors to make electronic squealing noises.
Does anyone know any solutions around this?
There is not much battery life in laptops. :?

In-Ear Personal Monitor?
Forums
Hello People,
I use in-ear monitoring and I am having with volume levels.
My monitor setup is:
aux1 from a 16X4 mackie, to my 4 channel monitor mixer.
I use the 1st channel for my main mix, I use a second for a metronome.
I use the headphone jack to power my Shure EC3 headphones.

Digital audio files: formats, structures, time stamps, etc.
Forums
I have to confess that my knowledge of digital audio formats and the structure of various files is, at best, spotty. I'm going to have to swap files with people adding tracks to some base tracks I am recording, and I'd like to, uhh, actually know what I am doing. Can someone direct me to a reliable book, website, etc. where I can learn the details.
Hum in Guitar Amp/ DI question
Forums
Before I purchased the Minimee tube amp I would frequently record a guitar amped (solidstate) and direct by employing a Roland A/B/Y switch routed as follows Guitar to Roland switch A to amp B direct to one of my PreSonus FP instrument channels. This never gave me any problems. When I tried this same routing with the tube amp I encountered an unacceptable level of hum in the amp.
