Hey all.

I'm looking to buy a good audio interface for home recording for around $170 .

Gonna be using a SM57 (but I still want an interface with phantom power if I want to get a condenser mic in the future) with it to record acoustic guitar/vox...and maybe a lil electric guitar on the side. I will be using a HP laptop with Vista 64 bit.

Hi Kids, Uncle Dogg here. Today we start basic drum sounds and maybe we'll capture some magic later. I will be keeping photo records and will post some tracks as they come available.

This may sound elementary, but how do I connect (2) additional speakers to my existing (2) computer speakers.
My speaker system is a (3) speaker system, 2 speakers and a woofer.
I just want more listening quality.

Acctually now that I think about it, Do I want a "Surround sytem" ?

So, I want to start recording really soon. I want to record acoutsic guitar/electric guitar/ and vocals...I've talked to several friends who know some things about recording so they said all I needed was a mic, mixer, cables, stand, and computer.

My understanding is that you run it like this:

mic--> cable --> mixer --> cable --> computer -->software

I understand that USB 2.0 and Firewire 400 are almost on the same level with each other (or at least that's what I presume), but what would be the best performace choice for an audio interface. I'm leaning towards firewire because it is more prevalent. I'm just seeking some opinons.

building my own home studio. Well, needless to say that over time technology
has advanced faster than my studio plans have and now that I've finally found the time

Having tried to get my current budget mixer to record sucessfully for quite a while now with not very good results, I think another mixer may be in order. But, I'm cheap and I don't have a job right now and I probably won't start work until late August, so I need your input.

Soundcraft Live 4 Mixer - 16 channels
Dynacord PM 1000/I Mixer - 10 channels

Peavey DTH 4 speakers - two in each side totalling 8 BW's 15"

2 Peavey BW 15" monitors

TC Electronic M-One unit
