Gain Staging for Monitor Output
Forums
This is gain staging in reverse. I have an MBox2Pro which has a front panel volume control for the monitor output. I use unpowered speakers, so I have a monitor power amplifier with separate volume controls for each channel. The controls on the amp are really input attenuators. The amp is 100 watts a channel running into NS-10M speakers, which are rated at 60 watts, 120 peak.

Installing a Secong HD
Forums
I think I did this wrong the first time...
My DAW PC died, and I took the HD out of it to see if my replacement PC would let me access the projects on it...don't laugh, I took me a while to find the courage to install a sound card!

DAW noob looking to upgrade computer
Forums
Hi, as of right now I do all my recording, mixing and mastering in my Korg D16. Right now, my budget won't allow to get an interface for recording on my pc. What I'd like to do is record on my Korg and then import my files via Orb disc to my computer for mixing and mastering.

Studio Date Coming Up
Forums
This Fri my buddy is having his band lay down some tracks and he wants me behind the mixer. He's going to do individual tracks before I get there, and I'm going to operate the mixer while they play as a band.
This will be my first time mixing/recording drums. What advice can you give me to me for what to expect and/or do?

Best guitar amp
Forums
A guitar player at heart, I own a stack but I'm finding better results going back to basics. I recently bought 2 tiny guitar amps (Voice Da5, Fender 15 watt), I use a splitter and get decent results. The vox alone is quite the powerhouse with a 57 on it.

New to the forums
Forums
First off, let me say hi, I am happy to be here.. I really want to get into recording, so I was browsing on here and noticed a lot of bad things about people trying to record and Vista. I have Vista on my machine, does that mean I am going to run into issues? have never had any issues with Vista.
