hi, i've tried to record my band but on overdrived guitar tracks i get a lot of annoying noise, i can work it arround a bit with EQ but the sound is just crappy

Hi, I've been playing guitar for about 9 years, but I'm still relatively new to home recording. I'm using a M audio 410 firewire interface into a Mackie mixer, but Im heading off to college and would like to get either a firewire or usb mixer. First of all, are there any clear benefits to getting a firewire, and can I get some suggestions for both? Thanks

ok, so basically I have recorded a song and I am was ready to upload to the computer. After I mastered it and made it a .wav file, i put in the usb cord and up popped the windows media player on the computer. It then said the file cannot be read. I need to update my drivers..etc..has this happened to any1 else? does any1 know how to solve this problem? thanks.

I'm using the Line6 Guitarport to input from my guitar. I have Guitar Rig 3 set up for my effects, and I'm trying to record directly into Sony Acid Pro 7.0. Guitarport is set up as my primary audio device, with the line-out on my soundcard going to the "In" of the guitarport, then the output of guitarport going to my monitors.

I am using Sonar LE that came with my roland sp555 .I am trying to record seperate tracks for guitar, drums, bass, etc. My problem, that I can't seem to figure out, is when I have recorded my first track and go to record my second track the first track is being re-recorded onto the 2nd track.

I hate to say it, but I may just give up on recording. Why? Because nothing works with freaking Vista. I wanted XP, but Dell will apparently give you Vista even if you ask for XP, and then charge you a ridiculous fee to return the computer. I got a Firewire mixer, and it didn't work with Vista.
