Has anyone done or heard of such a technique? I was thinking of ways to brighten a mix and I thought about setting up two mics and pointing them at the tweeters and recording the entire mix just before mixdown. Maybe halfway between the tweeters and woofers for less bite.

I have a few more gigs lined up and should be able to expand my mic pre selection in the near future.

Currently I have 2 Portico 5012’s, a Aphex 107 (slightly modified) and a heavily modified ART tube PAC.

I will be able to test out my top 3 choices, but in order to narrow the field

I would appreciate the input of people actually using the gear.

I was wondering if it was possible to mix 2 tracks into 1 using the Live Lite recording program. It only lets you use 4 tracks and am wondering if there is a way to collapse 2 into 1. Thank you.

Maybe we are looking at this thing the wrong way. The view from the top is quite clouded with opinions skewing to the right and left. The view from the bottom up might be more clear. Maybe we should just start a thread of gear that is better suited for toilet paper. Lets start with interfaces either PCI, USB, or firewire. GO!

I have a MacBook and an E-MU 0404USB. I'm stuck with only 2 inputs in my E-MU. What is the purpose of using a mixer in a home studio? How would I hook one up? I heard something about it going through an interface, which would be my E-MU, but that doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

Stressing. Too much. Grrr.

My room is about 11x12 and untreated. I'm looking for rules of thumb or something of the sort. Like amp placement, should it face a corner or wall or something. Should I have the amp shoot into the closet? Right now I have it facing the center of the room and I feel that this is not the way to go about things. My tracks don't sound horrible, but they don't sound how I want them to either.
