preamp
Forums
i am using an at2020 running it from the art tube OPL preamp, into a Behringer 802 xenyx, would both preamps be necessary for maximum clarity on vocals or is it overkill, the vocals are loud rock/rap segments over prerecorded instrumentals

Kel HM-1's
Forums
Ok, so I am looking to buy a pair of mics to use as drum overheads, and I don't want to spend more than $300. Up until this point, I have been using either sm58's as overheads, or an MXL large diaphragm condenser borrowed from a friend. I was originally looking for a pair of SDC's, but anything cheaper than RODE NT5's seemed to get mediocre reviews at best.

Retube or Rent High Quality Preamp?
Forums
Hi all so I have a Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier that I got used off of craigslist and I haven't yet swapped out the tubes. I think that they're between 2-3 years old (they are groove tubes if it matters). I'm going to be recording a new record soon and I'm wondering if it would be better to do a full retube or spend my money on a renting a high quality preamp such as an Avalon 737.

How diverse is the AT 4050

I am really looking at buying an AT4050 for my home studio but i want to make sure I'll be able to use it for multiple applications, namely recording rock and softer acoustic vocals, guitar cabinets and acoustic guitars. I also have an AT3035, an sm57, Sennheiser 109e and an sm81.

iMac DAW software/hardware questions - Newbie
Forums
I have an 24" iMac 2.8 core duo w/ 500 gig internal hard drive, 4gig's RAM and I currently have a PreSonus FireBox with some very old Cubase LE software that came with it - I never installed on the iMac yet(used on my PC for a few years now).
Routing signal with my console
Forums
Hey, so I have a question about mix down with my Toft ATB16. I have it set up in-line with the signal being returned to each channel so I can mix OTB with the ATB's EQ, etc. I don't have it set up currently so that I can mix down to a stereo track, which is ultimately an issue, come bounce time.

I thought Firewire was the "bling"
Forums
Here I thought Firewire was the "cats-meow" if you will...but now I hear people complain something about a delay caused by a buffer for midi/audio playback...
If firewire is such a bad thing, what else is there? I know USB 2.0 is fast (not as fast as firewire 800? but everyone seems to use firewire 400?)

Recording an Audience
Forums
Search function keeps returning blank pages :S
How would you go about capturing the sound of a congregation singing, with a cardoid dynamic mic? (Stereo is going to be more hassle than it's worth for the moment)
This isn't a one off thing, it's going to be done weekly, starting in the new year perhaps.
